Belgium – National strikes affecting postal services

bpost notifies that demonstrations, organised by the country’s national trade unions to protest various measures taken by the federal government, will take place across Belgium. Some of these actions will directly affect bpost and will mainly consist of the following:

- The national railway network will not operate normally from Sunday, 8 March at 22.00 for a duration of 72 hours;

- All other public transport will not operate from Wednesday, 11 March at 22.00 to Thursday, 12 March at 23.59;

- International airports will not operate on Thursday, 12 March;

- Public services (including all schools and hospitals) have scheduled a strike for Thursday, 12 March;

- National demonstrations will take place on Thursday, 12 March.

These industrial actions are expected to affect various postal services across the country, including letter-post and parcel-post deliveries, as well as bpost’s domestic and international logistics network. Moreover, a significant part of bpost’s workforce will be unable to reach work due to a lack of public transport.
