Frequently asked questions

Are there additional charges when I post my letter at my letterbox?

No, there are no additional charges for posting your letter in a public letterbox. As long as your letter has the correct postage applied, you can simply drop it into any SingPost letterbox at your convenience.

Can I post my Registered Mail and my Speedpost Items at my letterbox if it's just documents?

For trackable services like Registered Mail and Speedpost, please lodge your items at a Post Office, POPDrop, or POPStop. This is necessary to ensure your mail is properly scanned and has a secure record, which our standard letterboxes cannot provide.

Can I post my Prepaid Label and smartpac at my letterbox, similar to how I can post it in the posting box?

You can post items with a Prepaid Label or smartpac at any public letterbox, provided they fit completely and securely into the posting slot.

Can I post my letters meant for overseas at my letterbox?

Yes, you can. As long as your letter has the correct postage for its destination, you can simply drop it into the letterbox.

I just posted my letter at a letterbox but I need to get it back. Can you ask your postman to return it to me?

We understand that circumstances can change. While we are unable to have the postman return the letter to your unit, we do offer a retrieval service.

Please note that this is a chargeable service with a fee of $21.80. Once retrieved, the letter can only be collected from the General Post Office. You can provide your details to our service staff, and we will check on the status of the item for you.

Your Posting Box has a fixed cut-off time everyday. What is the cut-off time for posting at a letterbox?

For our current trial, the daily cut-off time for posting at letterboxes is 5 p.m. The collection process is currently under review, and further information on cut-off times will be provided before the full launch.

If your residence is outside the trial area

My friend/family member/colleague is able to post his letter at his residential letterbox. Why am I not able to?

The option to post letters at residential letterboxes is currently available only in selected areas as part of a trial.

Your friend's residence is likely within one of these trial locations, while your area is not yet part of the program. Upon a successful trial, we plan to expand this service island-wide by the third quarter of 2026.

My friend/family member/colleague is able to post letters at his residential letterbox. Can I also post at his/her letterbox even though I am not staying there?

Yes, you can. The residential letterbox posting service is available at specific locations included in our trial.

As long as you are posting at a letterbox within one of these trial areas, you may use the service, regardless of whether you reside there.
