Canada Post has advised that several provinces and territories are experiencing an unprecedented wildfire season, and the effects are widespread.

Wildfires raging across the Northwest Territories and British Columbia have damaged several towns and are forcing thousands of residents to flee their homes.

On 18 August 2023, the Province of British Columbia declared a provincial state of emergency to support ongoing response and recovery efforts. This declaration allows the province to enact emergency orders, including restricted travel to specific areas as needed.
