Blessings in a Box

Blessings come in many forms, and one of the most important is that of good health. But for some seniors in Singapore, keeping tracking and taking care of their health have been difficult due to financial constraints. Plasters, thermometers, surgical masks and other medical essentials that should be available in every home has become only secondary concerns behind food, drink and shelter.

“The elderly under our care often complain of muscle aches and dry skin, and some of them even leave wounds untreated because they are unwilling to spend the limited funds they have on what they think is a trivial wound. The provision of basic medical supplies like plasters, moisturisers and pain relief patches will go a long way in instilling a sense of independence, dignity and confidence in these elderly, as well as improve their standard of living.”Assistant Manager Yong Yin HoongTOUCH Senior Activity Centre (Geylang Bahru)

TOUCH Community Services is a not-for-profit charitable organisation, dedicated to meeting the needs of the frail elderly, children from low-income or single-parent families, youths at risk, needy families, and people with special and healthcare needs. Some 7,000 seniors have been supported through its home care and caregiver support services, senior activity centres, cluster support services and a senior group home.
