  • Festive postage rates for all greeting cards from 11 January to 2 February 2022

Singapore, 7 January 2022 – Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) today launched a set of stamps to welcome the Year of the Tiger. The set of two stamps feature graphical illustrations of the tiger, which is the third animal in the Chinese Zodiac order.

The artist behind the illustrations for the entire series is Ms Lim An-Ling, the designer behind the 2019 Singapore Bicentennial stamp sets. An established animator and illustrator, Ms Lim has been designing stamps for SingPost since 2013. This year’s stamps are part of a new 12-year series that kicked off in 2020 with stamps commemorating the Year of the Rat.

According to popular belief, people born in the Year of the Tiger are known to be brave, competitive, confident yet unpredictable. While mostly charming and well-liked by others, they are known to be sometimes impetuous, irritable, and over-indulgent.

Famous personalities born in the year of the Tiger include Queen Elizabeth II, entertainer Lady Gaga, singer Shawn Mendes, Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, as well as Singapore TV personalities Desmond Tan and Rebecca Lim.

SingPost will also be producing a special Collector’s Sheet with a commemorative $10 stamp. Priced at $18.80, the Collector’s Sheet will be sold in a folder along with a set of eight red packets. The design is a modern take on the Chinese tradition of paper-cutting, one of China’s oldest and most popular folk art that dates back to the second century.

The Collector’s Sheet is designed by Mr Andy Koh, a multi-disciplinary designer who has also designed several stamp issues since 2000.
