Singapore, 6 January 2021 – Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) will be launching a set of stamps to welcome the Year of the Ox. The stamps will go on sale from 8 January 2021.

This year, the stamps feature two graphical illustrations of the ox, the second animal in the Chinese Zodiac cycle. The collection is part of a new collection of SingPost’s Zodiac stamp series launched last year.

The artist behind the illustrations for the entire series is Ms Lim An-Ling, the designer behind the 2019 Singapore Bicentennial stamp sets. An established animator and illustrator, Ms Lim has been designing stamps for SingPost since 2013.

According to tradition, people born in the years of the Ox are known to be strong, reliable, fair and conscientious, inspiring confidence in others. They are also calm, patient, methodical and trustworthy. They believe strongly in themselves, but are also stubborn and hate to fail or be challenged. Famous personalities born in the year of the Ox include former US President Barack Obama, the late Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Margaret Thatcher, Hollywood actor George Clooney, singer Bruno Mars, and Singaporean actor Romeo Tan.

The design is a modern take on the Chinese tradition of paper-cutting, one of China’s oldest and most popular folk art that dates back to the second century.

The Collector’s Sheet is designed by Mr Andy Koh, a multi-disciplinary designer who has also designed several stamp issues since 2000.
