#HereWithYou: SingPost stands with Singapore

Singapore, 1 May 2020 – SingPost and its 4,000-strong team stand united with Singapore in fight against COVID-19

The campaign emphasises SingPost’s focus on prioritising the health and safety of its team members, customers and communities, as it continues to serve Singapore with pride as the national postal essential service in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Why #HereWithYou?

The name of our campaign, #HereWithYou is inspired by team members who quietly and tirelessly serve the nation during this unprecedented time. It is a special tribute to our team members, who are now frontline soldiers in our battle against the pandemic.

SingPost’s operational teams – postmen, parcel ambassadors, postal workers, post office staff – continue to work hard to ensure that Singapore’s national postal system remains intact, despite severe challenges posed by the spread of the virus.

SingPost Chief Brand and Communications Officer Robin Goh said that this campaign was originally conceived as an internal engagement campaign to cheer its employees on during this tough time, as many staff members affected in one way or another but continued to give their best while performing their duties. The public campaign was later inspired by many selfless acts of kindness it saw from customers and the community.

“Over the past few weeks, we saw many selfless acts of kindness from our customers. We have had donations of masks, food and drinks for our frontline delivery team members, who have been putting in extra hours most days and over the weekends to ensure that mail continues to be delivered,” Mr Goh said.

“It is heartening that the community have rallied together to support and encourage one another, and that is why, as a national institution, we have decided to pledge our support for our people and the community we serve through this campaign.

“It is during times like these that SingPost continues to connect people, communities and businesses. Singapore Post has weathered many storms with Singapore over the last 162 years. This time is not any different, despite the depth of the challenges of the virus,” Mr Goh added.

Supporting community initiatives

Even as Singapore, together with the rest of the world, grapple to contain the spread of the pandemic and significant economic fall-out, SingPost continues to stand alongside Singapore, stoically supporting the community, during this difficult and unprecedented time. SingPost is proud to support community initiatives in the midst of this crisis by offering our delivery expertise and network.

Mask Sewn with Love

SingPost has partnered the People’s Association (PA) in its Masks Sewn With Love community initiative. Members of the public place their hand-woven masks into blank envelopes with the initiative name, and place them in any posting box islandwide. We have committed to waiving postage fees for all masks collected under this initiative, and to store the masks for delivery when the time comes.

Speedpost medicine deliveries for NUH and select polyclinics

In the midst of this pandemic, residents who require regular medications have understandably been wary about visiting hospitals and clinics. SingPost therefore partnered National Healthcare Group in providing medicine delivery to patients at home, with deliveries made from National University Hospital, as well as Geylang, Toa Payoh and Hougang Polyclinics.

SingPost has also provided its support to other causes and community initiatives since the early days of COVID-19.

In February, SingPost offered its assistance to ItsRainingRaincoats, a community initiative for migrant workers in Singapore that rallied around a Bangladeshi foreign worker who was infected with COVID-19. Better known as Case 42, the Bangladeshi national was the sole breadwinner of his family, and was admitted into ICU not too longer after.

ItsRainingRaincoats organised a donation drive for the worker’s soon-to-be born child, asking for donations of baby items, and eventually collected 33 boxes worth of items, which was then split into three shares, two others going to families of two Indian migrant workers who unfortunately passed away in Singapore. SingPost sponsored the shipping of these items to Bangladesh and India and made sure it reached the families safely.

SingPost also joined hands with Temasek Foundation in the multi-lateral community effort to distribute hand sanitisers to all 1.5 million households. As the nation’s public postal licensee, we distributed the collection pamphlets to all households in Singapore over two days.

A tribute to postal workers

As part the campaign, SingPost invites Singaporeans and residents to pay tribute to all postal workers, who continue to deliver tirelessly during this difficult time so that residents can continue to receive their letters and parcels in a timely manner.

To participate in this national movement, simply craft a simple message in words or through a drawing, post it on Facebook and/or Instagram using the hashtag #HereWithYou and tagging SingPost. All the messages will be collated and shared with postal workers through SingPost’s employee communication channels.
