SingPost and The Straits Times Launch Singapore's First Lenticular Stamps

Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) and The Straits Times, a publication of SPH Media Trust, today announced the launch of Singapore's first lenticular stamp collection, Then & Now, ahead of World Post Day 2026 on 9 October. The collection marks the first time lenticular stamps have been produced in Singapore.
Singapore's First Lenticular Stamps: Then & Now
Lenticular printing shifts between two images depending on the viewing angle. The Then & Now collection uses this to hold two moments in time on a single stamp — the past giving way to the present as the stamp is tilted. Together, the two stamps trace Singapore's postal story across two chapters: the Fullerton Building, from its years as the first General Post Office to its current life as a national monument and luxury hotel; and the Singapore postman, from mail delivery on foot through kampung tracks to the deliveries of today.
The collection is produced in collaboration with The Straits Times, whose photographic archive has documented Singapore's transformation since 1845. Four archival images, selected by The Straits Times' photojournalists, anchor each chapter across the two stamps.
The Fullerton Building has stood at the mouth of the Singapore River since 1928. Built as a granite landmark, it was home to Singapore's first General Post Office, known for its 90-metre curved service counter — said at the time to be the longest in the world. It was also "Mile Zero", the point from which road distances across Singapore were measured. During World War II it served as a military headquarters and hospital, and in the years that followed housed key government offices during Singapore's early nation-building period. Restored and reopened as a luxury hotel in 1998, it was gazetted a national monument in 2015.
Singapore's first postman was a single messenger working out of a small room near the Singapore River in 1819. In the early years, delivery meant navigating muddy tracks and rural kampungs, on foot or by horse-drawn carriage, for mail that had arrived by sea. The profession modernised alongside the city, moving into the Fullerton Building in 1928 and later transitioning to motor vans and bicycles. Women joined the postal service for the first time in 1974. Today the role has shifted towards eCommerce and automated sorting, but postal workers remain a familiar and trusted presence.

World Post Day 2026 MyStamp Set
Where the lenticular set offers a photojournalistic lens on Singapore's historical milestones, the World Post Day 2026 MyStamp Set and postcard collection captures the warm, whimsical spirit of everyday lived memory. Adapted from artwork created for the World Post Day 2026 exhibition, the animated designs bring to life native wildlife, local flora and fauna, iconic HDB blocks and nostalgic vintage playgrounds.
Pre-Orders: 23 – 30 September 2026
Pre-orders are now open at shop.singpost.com and run until 30 September 2026. As a pre-order special, the first 100 orders of the Singapore Then & Now Lenticular Sheet Folder will each receive a replica of The Straits Times' first edition, published on 15 July 1845. Pre-orders will be available for self-collection at the General Post Office from 9 October in conjunction with World Post Day.

The Then & Now special stamp collection will be available from 9 October 2026 at the Philatelic Counter at the General Post Office, the Philatelic Store @ Tampines, and online at shop.singpost.com, while stocks last.
