SingPost Expands Network of eCommerce Touchpoints

Brings POPStop to Main Transportation Nodes and Launches New POPDrop

SINGAPORE, 28 March 2024 – Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) is launching its first standalone POPStop at Tampines MRT station today. To ensure its continued relevance, this underscores SingPost’s commitment to providing seamless and convenient solutions for the booming online shopping landscape in Singapore.

Bringing POPStops to main transportation nodes

Currently in all post offices, POPStops are SingPost’s dedicated service counters facilitating eCommerce item lodgements and returns. Staff manning these counters are also trained to provide eCommerce-related logistics advice. These convenient hubs will bring seamless drop-off and return experiences closer to small businesses and individual sellers, as the network of POPStops progressively expands in future.

Located at Tampines MRT, POPStop@Tampines will also feature a first-of-its-kind service pilot – a generative artificial intelligence (gen-AI) powered digital assistant. This AI assistant will interact with customers, answer common questions, and dispense labels and postage stamps, freeing up SingPost’s customer service teams to handle more complex inquiries.

SingPost expands its network with the launch of POPStop@Tampines, the first of many planned locations. This strategic move reflects the continuation of a partnership with Stellar Lifestyle, the business arm of SMRT. Together, SingPost and SMRT aims to bring greater convenience to commuters by integrating parcel drop-offs and returns into daily commutes, at key transportation nodes across Singapore.

Mr Tony Heng, President, Stellar Lifestyle, said: “Aligned to our Moving People, Enhancing Lifestyles vision, we are delighted to continue and strengthen our collaboration with SingPost in delivering greater convenience to our commuters and helping SME merchants through POPStop@Tampines, which was first showcased and validated at our innovation sandbox Hive by Stellar Lifestyle in Esplanade MRT station. Bringing to life innovative solutions – like POPStop – shows how we are exploring new ways to transform our spaces in and around our transit network into vibrant lifestyle destinations. Through these initiatives, Stellar Lifestyle continues with our Do Right, Do Good and Do Well efforts in supporting the growth of our local SMEs.”

New POPDrop at Heartland Areas: A More Sustainable Option

Complementing the POPStop network is the POPDrop, a self-service box solution, that will soon be deployed in selected heartland areas from May. POPDrop offers a secure and efficient way for merchants and consumers to drop off or return smaller items. Eight more POPDrops are planned for rollout across Singapore in the following months, offering a wider network of convenient drop-off locations for its customers.

Ms Neo Su Yin, Chief Executive Officer Singapore, Singapore Post, said: “I am heartened to be collaborating with like-minded partners to bring relevant eCommerce services closer to daily commutes and the heartlands, offering greater convenience for small businesses and customers. The addition of standalone POPStops at MRT stations and new POPDrops boosts the connectivity within our existing infrastructure network, making it more pervasive. By aggressively developing our Out-of-Home (OOH) capabilities, we aim to solidify our leadership in the eCommerce landscape, making every delivery count for our customers."
