Media Statement for 31 March 2020

SingPost today confirms one more employee who tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number of confirmed cases at SingPost to six, of which one has fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.

Similar to the previously confirmed cases, this employee is not a postman and does not have contact with members of the public in his course of work.

The full-time employee is a team leader who primarily works at the mail sorting facility. His primary duties involve managing team members operating the letter sorting machines. He works in a staff-only area that cannot be accessed by members of the public and uses a separate staff entrance at the rear of the SingPost building. The employee does not pass through the SingPost Centre shopping mall when he enters or leaves his workplace.

We continue to work with the Ministry of Health (MOH) on further contact tracing. MOH has already served Quarantine Orders to a number of our employees who have been in contact with the previously confirmed cases.

SingPost is rendering support to all confirmed employees while upholding its strict staff health and segregation regimes throughout the business. As a precautionary measure, we have also conducted cleaning and disinfecting of the entire facility over the weekend. Mail processing and delivery is not affected.

SingPost will also like to stress that there is currently no evidence of contracting the virus through mail and postal items at this time.
