SMS Mail for Business
SMS Mail is a value-added service providing a SMS alert to the recipient via the mobile phone once the item has been delivered to the letter box. It also has an online tracking feature. It is an economical delivery option especially for valuable mail items such as credit cards and small package items (e-commerce) that can be delivered via the letter box.
Senders using the SMS Mail service will have the items delivered to their recipients via our domestic mail delivery service but with an additional SMS notification feature. This service is useful in alerting recipients that the items they are expecting have been delivered (for example, membership cards, credit/debit cards or merchandise). Recipients will enjoy the convenience and peace of mind as they would be informed once their item has been delivered to their letter box.
The item must not be heavier than 5kg or larger than 30 cm (L) x 19 cm (W) x 7 cm (H).
Senders can customise the message for example vPOST recipients will receive the following SMS notification:
"Dear Customer, your vPOST item SV1234567891234567891 has been delivered to your letter box. Please ignore this message if the item has already been collected. For enquiries, please contact us at 1605 (press 4 for vPOST)."
For mail/small packets posted within the BMC operating hours, the following PPI service delivery standards will apply:
- Letter (or credit cards): 98% of the mail lodged and addressed to Central Business District (CBD) and 95% of the mail lodged and addressed to outside the CBD will be delivered by the next working day.
- 95% of the Small Packets lodged at the BMC during BMC operating hours and addressed to recipients within and outside CBD will be delivered within three (3) working days following the date of posting (i.e. J + 3) for non-festive periods (May to November) and within five (5) working days following the date of posting (i.e. J + 5) for festive periods (December to February).
SingPost's postmen will deliver the item to the recipient's letter box and a SMS text will be sent to the recipient's mobile phone number on the same day upon a successful delivery. In the event that delivery is unsuccessful for whatever reason (for example, the letter box is full), our postmen will attempt to deliver the item to the recipient's door-step. If door-step delivery is also not possible (for example, no one is at home), a Delivery Advice will be placed at the door-step informing the recipient to collect his item from the nearest post office. In this case, no SMS will be sent.
SMS notification will be sent to the recepient's mobile phone on the same day if an item is successfully delivered.
The mobile number will only be used for the purpose of informing the recipient of the success delivery of a particular item.
The rate for the SMS service is $1.00 per item in addition to the domestic postage rates. Rate indicated is subject to the prevailing GST charge.
