United States Postal Service (USPS) has advised that wildfires in California are causing disruptions of mail delivery. Postal facilities have been damaged while some are in fire zones and are closed. The fires have also caused power outages. USPS’ ability to deliver postal items in some areas surrounding San Francisco and Oakland have been impacted. In areas where offices are closed, customers are being served through alternate locations. Delivery is being attempted where it is safe for both customers and employees.
Correos de Costa Rica has advised that services have been restored in much of the country after Tropical Storm Nate.
Cyprus Post has advised that one of the trade unions representing postal workers has announced a half-day strike on 16 October 2017. This will affect both international and domestic despatches and delivery of all postal items.
Empresa Brasileira de Correios e Telégrafos has updated that the strike affecting delivery operations is over. However, service delays are still expected over the next week.
Dominica Postal Service has updated that it is not in a position to receive mail. It estimates that it may take one month before it is operational, owing to various challenges including lack of electricity; damage to post office and customs' computers and equipment; damaged vehicles used to transport mail between the airport and post office; and damaged surveillance cameras. Please defer sending mail to the country until normal operations resume.
