Cancelled or non-cancelled stamps are admitted only as part of an organised philatelic exchange; medicines and vitamins are only admitted on authorisation of the Records Offices for Medicines and Pharmaceutical Products; Printed papers are admitted provided they do not contain printed material prejudicial to Kazakhstan, pornographic, obscene or erotic material. Ordinary and registered letters must only contain private written messages, documents, receipts, invoices, accounts and private photographs. |

Senders should ascertain import requirements from the Kazakhstan authorities before posting the following: Bees, leeches and silkworms; raw products of animal origin; dairy and fish products; fruit and vegetables; hunting weapons. |
| Customs Duty | Inherited goods originating from abroad are allowed into Kazakhstan, free of customs duty, if certificates are received from foreign consulates as regards the right of inheritance and the composition of the legacy. Documents issued by foreign authorities or public bodies should be stamp by a consul of Kazakhstan. Articles or parts of articles sent to Kazakhstan for repairs or replacement are admitted free of customs duty, if a written declaration from the sender is inserted in the parcel. |
| Import Permits and Invoices | Postal articles sent to state institutions and cooperatives, containing items of commercial value are admitted subject to an import permit issued by the Ministry for Foreign Trade of Kazakhstan. Invoices must accompany postal articles with a commercial value, which are delivered on presentation of the appropriate import permits and payment of customs duty. |

For importation of all forms of plant material, in particular seeds, fresh fruits, flowers, etc. a plant import permit must be obtained prior to shipment to Kenya from the Kenyan Ministry of Agriculture at any of the two addresses listed as follows: (a) The Director National Plant Quarantine Station PO Box 30148 Nairobi KENYA Telephone: Nairobi 32880-6 (b) The Director National Agricultural Laboratories PO Box 14733 Nairobi KENYA Telephone: Nairobi 48211-4 When issued, the original permit must be submitted to the plant health authorities in the country of origin to ensure compliance with the permit requirements, and for the issue of an additional phytosanitary certificate in accordance with the international model. A copy of the Kenyan permit together with the original of the permit issued by the country of origin must accompany the plants to Kenya. Plant material arriving in Kenya without authority and without correct accompanying documents may be destroyed or re-shipped to the country of origin at the owner's cost. |
| Import Licences | Import licences are required for certain classes of goods; licences, obtainable from the Imports Controller, Department of Trade and Supplies, PO Box 30430, Nairobi, Kenya, are required for goods imported by traders for re-sale. Senders must confirm before posting a parcel that an import licence, when it is necessary, has been obtained by the addressee. |
| Invoices | A commercial invoice dated and signed by the sender, must be enclosed in every parcel other than those sent to private individuals and the parcel should be marked on the address side "Invoice enclosed". Exceptionally, where a number of parcels are posted on any one day by the same sender to the same addressee, the sender should number the parcels 1, 2, 3 and so on and the invoice should be enclosed in parcel No. 1; the remaining parcels should be endorsed "Invoice enclosed in parcel No. 1". |
| Packing and Marking | Parcels should be very strongly packed, preferably in waterproof material. Those containing films must bear a white label clearly marked FILMS in black letters. |
| Delivery | Parcels should include a Post Office Box or Private Bag number in the address. Such parcels are not delivered, but addressees are notified of their arrival and are required to arrange for their collection. |
